Herodote's book of inquiries about Egypt tells us about the stories reported by the local populations during his trip at the end of the Egyptian kings reigns, when Greeks, like him, were many to walk their sandals in the halls and temples of a country which was already a great destination for tourism. Julius and Marcus-Anthony would soon enjoy in the queens arms, the charms of the golden sands. Questions, or Inquiries as the books are entitled, Herodote had many and was fond of surprising ones, like this one saying the Niles comes out (still nowadays;) from the boiling waters nearby the cataracts, for no measure could be given when a stone or a weight was sunk in the River.
Regarding how Pyramids were built, I agree with this idea that the workers were using the flood and the dark soils so as to make the large monoliths slide on the paste like on some kind of soap. Without the engineery of the Romans, moving dunes of sand would have been the best solutions so as to take the stones from the Nile to the top of Pyramids. But for Gyzah it would have meant an enormous mountain. Ends some discoveries haven't been done yet. Maybe some answers are to be found at Fayoum, though Old empire sites, during centuries, have been destroyed by the peasants working their fields. Another solution of mine is the snail maze, but it's still not explored. Explanation the center square is filled but the external monoliths are build like a double wall. In the between space, the sand enables the peasant to hire the stone to a upper level on a soft declivity, always using the soils of the Nile, as soap.  Until like the beetle pushing his dirty  ball, it come to the top where the golden pyramidion, primordial benben would open the way to the sky.
